The making of the Ring Forever Hot
Some operas carry a near-mythic sense of reverence around them. Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle is one of them. "In the traditional Ring, everything is controlled down to the smallest detail," says director Anna Sofie Keller Brandsborg. "What happens when the audience is allowed to move freely inside the work?"
The Ring - Forever Hot is created as a contemporary response to Wagner's idea of the Gesamtkunstwek - a total work of art where music, scenography, sound, installation and audience merge into one shared expereince.
A new generation of opera makers has been given one of opera history's most iconic works to reimagine.
